1881 Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Collar Book Chain Choker with Engraved Charms Necklace
Acquiring English sterling silver collar has been an obsession. I have accumulated quite a collection. This elegant collar is from my personal collection.
This impeccable Victorian sterling silver collar was hand crafted in England around the 1880s. Left near the clasp there is a diamond registration number. This is quite rare on a collar. Diamond registration numbers were issued by the patent office between 1842 and 1883. A diamond mark showed that the item had been designed in Britain and the design had been registered. This particular mark show that this collar was registered in September 1881.
This is a rare design, and it's amazing that none of the engraved leaf charms are missing. This is a wonderful piece, it can be worn with or without a pendant/locket to accommodate different styles of clothing.
This collar was tested to be sterling silver, it is unmarked which is typical. To my knowledge, the bolt rings are original to the period but not made of sterling silver. This listing is for only the collar necklace as shown in photo #1. The Mother of Pearl Buddha pendant can be purchased separately in my shop.
Since acquiring this collar, it has been sitting in a box most of the time. It is still in the same condition since I acquired it. Besides the normal wear, there are no flaws to be found. This must have been adored and cherished, despite being over 137 years old, it is in superb condition!
There are no damages or repairs. There are some patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth. A very beautiful original collar like this is rare to find these days and highly desirable, especially in such lovely condition.

This piece was not purchased at a flea market type of place. Also, it is not reclaimed, recycled, or altered, in any way, otherwise it would lose its value. Under good care, owning an unaltered piece of antique such as this is an investment now and in the years to come.
I have been specifically an antique collar buyer, for that reason, I do my best providing my descriptions as accurate as possible, and to point out flaws wherever I see them. I have included every detailed info that I would want to know as a buyer. Please feel free to message me if there is anything I left out.
This collar will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
