Acquiring English sterling silver collar has been an obsession. I have accumulated quite a collection. This special collar is from my personal collection.
  • This delicate and extremely lightweight Victorian sterling silver collar was hand crafted in England around the 1880s. This collar has thin yet sturdy stencil style designs and alternating hollow or "puffy" rectangular book chain style links. This is a wonderful piece, it can be worn with or without a pendant/locket, with the clasp in front or back to accommodate different styles of clothing.
  • This collar was tested to be sterling silver, it is unmarked which is typical. To my knowledge, the bolt ring is original to the period but not made of sterling silver.  This listing is for only the collar necklace as shown in photo #1.
  • Since acquiring this collar, it has been sitting in a box most of the time. It is still in the same condition since I acquired it. Besides the normal wear, there are 2 stencil (pierced) links that have minuscule indents. The rectangular links have 4 links which do not look perfect or smooth as the others. One of them has a minuscule cut/ding (please see photo #5). Three of them do not have the solid plain look, almost stain/dyed like (Please see photo #6 & #7 left side photo). This may be the cause from acid testing. However, I do not see any damages. This may have simply be the result of it being handmade. Lastly, one of the original pierced stencil link was not pierced, the designer must have overlooked (Please see photo #7 right side photo). The overall condition is quite impressive, considering it is over 137 years old.
  • There is minor patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth. A very beautiful original collar like this is rare to find these days and highly desirable, especially in such lovely condition.
  • Length Approximately: 16.5” inches, not including the bolt ring.
  • Weight Approximately: 17.3 grams.
  • Origin: England Circa 1880/ Victorian Era.
  • Purchased directly from an Antique Professional in England.
  • A photo with information for this piece will be included. This is what I kept for insurance purpose.
  • This piece was not purchased at a flea market type of place. Also, it is not reclaimed, recycled, or altered, in any way, otherwise it would lose its value. Under good care, owning an unaltered piece of antique such as this is an investment now and in the years to come.
  • I have been specifically an antique collar buyer, for that reason, I do my best providing my descriptions as accurate as possible, and to point out flaws wherever I see them. I have included every detailed info that I would want to know as a buyer. Please feel free to message me if there is anything I left out.
  • This collar will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
  • Shipping Insurance is included.
  • Please feel free to ask any questions!
